Lighter Footprints are screening Corals’ Last Stand as a double feature with Turning the Ship, from powerhouse grassroots group Rising Tide. Uplifting and inspiring, Turning the Ship tells the story of Rising Tide’s 2024 People’s Blockade of Newcastle’s key coal shipping port.
Together, these two films are a powerful call to action to protect Australia’s natural beauty from the impacts of climate change. Join us for a full afternoon tea!
Western Australia’s Scott Reef is more than 15 million years old, and is home to more than 1200 species including endangered sea snakes, green turtles and spectacular corals. It also sits atop the Browse Basin gas reservoir – which Woodside’s North West Shelf extension is threatening to drill. In the visually stunning new film Corals’ Last Stand, a group of prominent Australians tell the story of the beautiful Scott Reef – and the impact gas drilling would have on this natural wonder.
Join us for a cosy “afternoon in” at Kew Library where we’ll enjoy these fantastic new films and a fun social occasion. A full afternoon tea will be provided, with tea, coffee and snacks; craft materials will also be on hand for anyone inspired to create placards we can use to call for climate action! Cost: suggested donation: $10 ($5 for students).
